The poetic texts for the most part will be provided in photocopy. The other reference texts are the X book of Plato's Republic and Aristotle's Poetics.
Learning Objectives
The classes are addressed to students in the curricula of the Degree Course in Philology, Literature and History of Antiquities (LM-15) and the Degree Course in Archaeology (LM-2).
Prerequisites
Good knowledge of Greek language and dialectology as well as Greek literature in its historical development.

Course program
The course aims to be an invitation to read or review the poetic texts belonging to different genres, from epic to elegy and iambus, to the monodic and choral lyric to get to that of the Hellenistic age (Callimachus and Theocritus) for a reconstruction of poetic theories that have characterized the Greek literature in its historical development from the Archaic to the Hellenistic period.
For this purpose focus will be the reading of the tenth book of Plato's Republic and Aristotle's Poetics.
