Theoretical and methodological fundamental knowledge on contemporary developmental psychology, with particular reference to processes and mechanisms of physical, perceptual, cognitive, linguistic, emotional and social development through the life cycle. The attention to the typical and atypical development allows to present also the main rehabilitative interventions.

Inside the course I will be given a general and updated knowledge of the landscape linked to the psychology of contemporary development. This will be done in relation to the entire span of life, from childhood to old age.
For the monographic part, it will be explained the various theories belonging to the area of social understanding or Theory of Mind, with particular attention to the role of emotions.

The course is focused on the main topics of developmental psychology by integrating content and the classical methods with more contemporary theoretical approaches and empirical research results. The course will cover the contents using a life-span perspective, from childhood through the old age, integrating knowledges about typical and atypical development. Particular attention will be given to topics related to the socio-emotional and moral development, the prevention and the rehabilitative interventions across development. The aim of the course is to provide insight into the different areas of development according to the most recent theories and empirical research results in order to provide students with the main indicators of typical and atypical psychological functioning.

Inside the course will develop a broad understanding, updated and rigorous, the complex landscape of knowledge that concerns the psychology of contemporary development. It offers a careful approach is fundamental to the transmission of content and now "classics" of evolutionary disciplines both the dissemination of the main results of the contemporary empirical research. The articulation of internal content to the course covers the entire life cycle - from 'childhood to old age - and offers a comparison between the typical and atypical development as an opportunity to study each of the discussed topics.
The course deals with, finally, the social understanding or Theory of Mind (ability to infer the mental states of others and their own, considering causes of behavior) in the life cycle, with particular attention to the topic of emotions and with reference to the most recent data research on Theory of Mind and the neighboring areas of investigation. Specifically, you prospetteranno typical developmental pathways of social understanding, from early childhood to age elderly, pointing out the role played by the understanding of emotions - alongside that of knowledge - in the intra- and interpersonal life of the individual and the concepts will be exhibited innovative welfare and psychological risk (alexithymia, somatization, depression) during their lifetime.
The course introduces students of the psycho-social and psycho-pedagogical disciplines the care and prevention of problems related to social competence in the life cycle.
