Course Content
The aim of the course is to make students understand the nature of the creative process in film production; through critical vision of examples from the history of photography and cinema, and through theoretical as well as practical exercises, students will experience audiovisual production.

Course program
Introduction to the technical and professional knowledge of the following concepts/issues:
1) frame in the history of painting, photography and cinema;
2) narrative sequence in film language;
3) continuity in editing (how to chain synchronous actions in a sequence);
4) film subject as specific narrative writing technique;
5) screenplay as multifunctional tool;
6) shooting schedule as economic plan;
7) professional roles in film production: the production manager, the director, the cinematographer, the camera operator, the sound engineer and the boom operator, the continuity girl, the key grip, the electrician, the editor.
Students will experience photographic as well as digital techniques and, at the end of the course, will be able to realize a collective film production where each one, in turn, will cover a different professional role.
