Learning Objectives
The course aims to analyze some fundamental episodes of the sixteenth century sculpture in Italy, trying to highlight the different paths of research undertaken by the major actors of the period, from Antonio Lombardo and Bambaia, to Andrea Sansovino and Giglielmo della Porta.
Prerequisites
Basic knowledge of the art of the Sixteenth century in Italy and in Europe. Historical and critical analysis skills and good knowledge of English
Teaching Methods
Lectures with projections of images related to the works in question; visits to some of the sculptural complex investigated to be agreed with the students

Type of Assessment
Oral examination with assessment of comprehension of bibliographic texts and images recognition; drafting of a catalog entry of 6000 characters with relative bibliography related to one of the works studied in class or analyzed during the visit
Course program
The course aims to analyze some fundamental episodes of the sixteenth century sculpture in Italy, trying to highlight the different paths of research undertaken by the major actors of the period, from Antonio Lombardo and Bambaia, to Andrea Sansovino and Giglielmo della Porta. Will be analyzed, among others, the story of to the "Studiolo of marbles" commissioned by Alfonso I d'Este in Ferrara, the Monument of Gaston de Foix by Bambaia in Milan, the Cybo Monument by Gian Giacomo and Guglielmo della Porta and Niccolò da Corte in the Cathedral of Genoa, the vicissitudes of the Holy House of Loreto.
