Course Content
The course aims to present the students the knowledge of the history of the actors and of the theories of acting, through the most important examples in the Europe of the Ancient Regime and the modern era. The analysis of the single biographies will be associated to the explanation of the theories of acting, both contestualized within the social and cultural conditions of the period.

Learning Objectives
Knowledge: completion of a general knowledge of the basis principles of the discipline, previously acquired by the students, with a deeper knowledge of the spectacular event dealing with the history of actors in the selected period.
Competence: acquisition of an adequate concept referred to the importance of the role of the actor in the social, historical and cultural life of the time, through precise and detailed informations, deeply inserted in the social and cultural conditions of the period.
Behaviour: developing of an interpretative and critical ability, both reguarding the sources for the history of actors and the contents of the investigated events, always considered in light of the relation with the historical, social and cultural setting of the period.
Prerequisites
The course is restricted to the students of the Master Degree.
Teaching Methods
Frontal lessons, with the use of multimedia in the Moodle Platform. The course will be enriched by the presence of guest professors.
Type of Assessment
Oral examination. During the esamination, students must prove to have acquainted the bases of the discipline, the key ideas and to refer them with a critical exposition.
