knowledge: the course aims at providing a basic knowledge of the structural characteristics of ancient theatre and of some texts of the most important authors;
competence: to understand the main features of theatrical communication;
behaviour: to take part in class in an active way

Students must possess a basic knowledge of the most important Greek dramatists, based on school handbooks. If they have not, they can easily use a school handbook at the start of the course.

lectures wiìth active participation of students in reading the texts: distribution of individual researches; special classes on greek language and metrics are planned

Students from DAMS or from the modern curriculum will receive at the start information about the integrative readings necessary to take profit of the class; they will read the dramatic text in italian. It is possible that they will be requested to read some essay in english.

The final exam aims at checking the student's acquisition of knowledge and skills through a dialogie with the teacher. Students from the ancient curriculum - oral examination about the history of Greek theatre in the classical period (in particular on the essays chosen by the student): oral translation from the Greek, metrical analysis and commentary of some passages of the tragedy.
Students from DAMS and the modern curriculum – oral examination about the history of Greek theatre in the classical period (in particular on the essays chosen by the student); reading in italian and commentary of some passages of the tragedy (possibly in comparison with a parallel text).
The students’ papers presented in class will be taken into account.
