Learning Objectives
The institutional part of the course (with Arianna Fiore) will provide an overview of Spanish literature from the Middle Ages to Siglos de Oro through the reading and the analysis of some representative texts.
The lecture part of the course (with Salomé García Vuelta) will focus on the tragic modalities of baroque theater, whose most emblematic texts will be read and analyzed.

The institutional course will be taught by Dr. Arianna Fiore. The lectures will be held by Professor García Vuelta Salomé.
Type of Assessment
Examination will take place only in oral form, also for non-attending or exchange students (Erasmus and others). The test will be divided into two questions on the following specific parts of the course: 1) knowledge of Spanish literary history of the Middle Ages and the Golden Age; 2) Full-text and critically aware reading of the texts. The two specific parts can be verified with one or two articulate questions covering all areas. During the student may be asked to analyze the materials discussed in the lesson.
It is necessary to demonstrate a sufficient level of preparation in both parts to pass the test.
The final evaluation is made by the average between the two parts.
The test aims to verify:
- basic knowledge of Spanish literary history of the Middle Ages and the Golden Age;
- knowledge of the critical tools for the analysis of poetic and theatrical texts;
- the ability to critically analyze the texts included in the program.

Attendance, student work and final exam
The frequency provides the student with the essential personal study skills for the course.
The final, oral exam, assesses:
1) basic knowledge of Spanish Literary History of the Middle Ages and the Golden Age.
2) Full-text and critically aware reading of the texts.
Incomplete preparation on any of these parts will result in a no pass.
