Course Content
The course aims to explain the reciprocal interferences between the two fundamental aspects
which stand at the base of the renaissance and baroque theatre (XVI-XVII centuries): on a side, the professionalism of the actors (Commedia dell'Arte); on the other one, the deep and tight cultural exchange which stands behind the courtesan theatre.

Learning Objectives
Knowledge: completion of a general knowledge of the basis principles of the discipline, previously acquired by the students, with a deeper knowledge of the spectacle of the Ancient Regime.
Competence: acquisition of an adequate concept referred to the importance of the spectacle inside the social, historical and cultural life of the time, through a wider analysis of the spectacular competences in light of the social and cultural conditions of the period.
Behaviour: developing of an interpretative and critical ability, both reguarding the sources for the history the spectacle in the Ancient Regime and the contents of the investigated events, always considered in light of the relation with the historical, social and cultural setting of the period.
Prerequisites
The students must have achieved 18 cfu in the disciplines of the area L-ART/05.
Teaching Methods
Frontal lessons and vision of multimedial supports.

The bibliography doesn't cover for the frequency of the course. The unauthorized use of photocopies is a violation of the law 248/2000.
Type of Assessment
Oral examination. During the esamination, students must prove to have acquainted the bases of the discipline, the key ideas and to refer them with a critical exposition.
