Learning Objectives
Knowledge objectives: The course aims to provide the students with a good knowledge of the fundamental concepts in the linguistc and pragmatic analysis and to make the students able to apply them to linguistic and communicative phenomena. Behaviour objectives: The course points to stimulate the students - to use consciuously and actively the University structure on the whole and the tools necessary for orienting and managing the student career - to contribute to a correct and enriching relation between the teacher and the student - towards a civil and shared use of the study resources of the CdS and the School
Prerequisites
Basic knowledge in the linguistic analysis are required. Substantially the knowledge ontained in the study of Italian hgrammar or the grammar of a
stranger language in the secondary school.
Teaching Methods
Lessons and seminars. Examples wil be presented on the blackboard or by means of the powerpoint.
Type of Assessment
The exam for the student of the triennial degree is based on a written test including some open questions with possible oral verifications. The
questions regard the different topics treated during the lessons: the syntactic structure of the sentence, the morphological structure of the word, the phonetic and phonological analysis - features, rules and representations, syllabic and prosodic structures, the use of language in communicative situations, pragmatic and sociolinguitic phenomena, non-verbal communication, the discourse in situation, the models and concepts of the theory of the language. The exam aims to verify the knowledge that the students have acquired in the different topics and their capacity to use these notions in facing linguistic problems and real cases of processes.
Course program
The program of the course presents an articulation that allows for the general disciplinary interests of the Course in Human Sciences for the Communication. After introducing the fundamental issues of the analysis of the natural languages, including the concepts
concerning the notion of natural language and the linguistic human faculty, the lessons treat the notions concerning the syntactic,
phonological and semantic analysis, by means the discussion of examples drawn fron different languages beside Italian. Besiedes, the lessons will address the central topics concerning the use of language in communicative situations, i.e. sociolinguistics and pragmatics, the use of non-verbal communication tools /gestures, the discourse, the communicative event.
