The course aims to debate the key concepts of human geography, in order to give students a specific interpretation of the new global scenario.
The course focuses on history of geography and cartography and in general on the interaction between men and his habitat.

Learning Objectives
Acquire basic knowledge about human action on Earth through the general analysis of the historical, cultural, social and environmental elements that characterize the relationship between mankind and space.
Learn basic geographical terminology and acquire basic knowledge of the main geographical tools.

Attendance is required for 2/3 of the lessons. Part-time students must contact the teacher at the beginning of the course, possibly to arrange an additional program.
Type of Assessment
The final oral exam will be focused on the evaluation of the knowledge acquired by the students and on their ability in developing a personal and critical argument.
Attending students: lectures and resources available online via Google Drive UniFi platform, one book chosen from the suggested readings list.
Non attending students: handbook, one book chosen from the suggested readings list.
All students must specify the book chosen in the online exam application form.
Course program
Introduction to human geography: main contents, history of geography, history of cartography.
Key concepts of human geography:
man and spatial interaction, the Globalization;
culture, cultural heritage and landscape;
population, languages and religions;
the political organization of the land: borders, conflicts and migrations;
urban area and rural area: development and impact.
