Learning Objectives
1) Module for beginners; an introduction to the Biblical literature and to the Ancient Hebrew culture will be given, with a focus on the prophetic literature of the Old Testament.
2) Module for second level students; specific aspects of Hebrew language will be taught and the students will be enabled to translate Biblical Hebrew texts.
Prerequisites
A good knowledge of a modern European language is required.
Teaching Methods
1) Lectures and seminars; practice inside Jewish Museums and libraries which keep important Judaica collections.
2) Lecture and practice; courses with a language assistant and a laboratory of Hebrew language are available.

Type of Assessment
Discussions and short exercises during the semester. Final oral examination; if required a written examination is possible for the ancient language module.
Course program
1) THE VISIONS OF PROTO-ZECHARIAH.
General introduction to the composition of the Bible and to the main aspects of the prophetic literature. Translation and commentary of selected chapters of Proto-Zechariah.
2) MORPHOLOGY AND SYNTAX OF BIBLICAL HEBREW.
Linguistic analysis and translation of Biblical passages from Proto-Zechariah.
