Course Content
The Portuguese and Lusitanian Illuminism between in an European view. The course aims to explain the main cultural and literary aspects of the Portuguese and Lusitanian 18th Century, inside the European literary and artistic context of the 18th Century, to reflect and analyse contrastive and similar aspects. These notions will be supported by the study of an accurate selection of literary texts in Portuguese language of the 18th Century.

Learning Objectives
The course is addressed to the students of Triennio and it aims: 1.to give a first approach to the Portuguese and Lusitanian Literature of the 18th Century; 2.to offer historical and cultural, stylistic and formal skills, to a better comprehension of the literary text; 3.to improve critical abilities through the lecture and the comprehension of a selection of the most important texts of the Portuguese and Lusitanian literature of the 18th Century.

It is requested an elementary knowledge of the Portuguese Language

Type of Assessment
The exam is oral and it concerns questions on the topic of the course, including the bibliographic references indicated in the program. The exam aims to verify:
-the knowledge of the basic-concepts of the Portuguese and Lusitanian literature of the 18th Century;
-the ability to describe lierary texts in their historical and cultural context;
-the ability to read and explain the texts analysed during the course with fluency, critical competence and theoretical consciousness;
-the ability to properly use the critical terminology
