The course deals with the theme of cultural and media construction of stereotypes on specific social categories within the educational context. Stereotypes are social constructions that have often influenced educational paths and have been deconstructed or preserved over time. The course reconstructs the historical steps and the different effects produced by the stereotypes in the present and the role played by the media and the cultural context.

Learning Objectives
The objectives are declined on the basis of the Dublin descriptors:
1. Knowledge and understanding: knowing the historical-educational phases of construction and deconstruction of stereotypes built in the period of European dictatorships
2. Applied knowledge and understanding: being able to describe communicative and educational models of the twentieth century
3. Autonomy of judgment: knowing how to rework the knowledge transmitted during the course and with reference to the individual activities developed on moodle.
4. Communication skills: participate in a group discussion through the forums activated in the moodle platform and related to the different topics covered in class.
5. Ability to learn: knowing how to build a personal knowledge base from sources such as books and documents also through the media
