The Laboratory of Classical Philology and Literature aims to bring students closer to scientific research. The lectures are held by Italian and foreign specialists and present themes, methods and case studies, thus offering a broad and updated look at the tools used in philology and literary criticism of classical Greek and Latin texts, as well as on current frontiers of research.
The bibliography relating to each topic will be provided by the individual speakers. Any materials will be made available on the e-learning platform.
Learning Objectives
At the end of the laboratory, students will have acquired specialist skills and knowledge in the field of philology and classical literature. They will know the main methodologies adopted in the various fields of study and will be able to evaluate their main characteristics and quality. They will be able to provide critical judgments and to discuss literary, textual and exegetical issues with their colleagues, as well as to argue for or against competing hypotheses.
Prerequisites
Very good knowledge of Greek and Latin. Knowledge of the history of classical literatures and the methodological foundations of philology and papyrology.

Type of Assessment
Each student student will prepare a report on two of the topics addressed during the workshop. For each topic the report will have to illustrate the status quaestionis presented by the teacher, provide contextual details, highlight the innovations proposed during the lecture, and describe the scientific methodology adopted. Links with topics addressed in the course of study are welcome, provided they are relevant and critically selected.
