This course addresses Pedagogy as a discipline able to reflect on education and training problems and issues, and it is divided in two parts, strictly interrelated: after a brief historical excursus, summarizing the most relevant “steps” of Pedagogy’s constitution as a scientific discipline, the first one is focused on highlighting its function in orienting, legitimating and regulating educational practices and contexts. In its second part, after a brief illustration of the different “frontiers” of current Pedagogy, we will focus on three key examples, respectively: Intercultural Pedagogy, Family Pedagogy and Early Childhood Pedagogy, also in order to outline the link between the general reflection on education, and on the development and the reflection of educational practices themselves.
