How does the perception of the "different", of the "marginal" of the "other" within the European society in the contemporary age? The course aims to analyze and discuss the media (the writing, iconography, cinematography) through which the diversity of the "other" was built.

KNOWLEDGE OBJECTIVES: to learn the Knowledge of the most relevant themes and problems of the contemporary history, with particular attention to history of European racism.

Type of Assessment
The exam consists in an oral discussion for the Erasmus, other exchange program and distance learning students too. The exam consists in two following tests: 1. oral presentation during the course on a topic chosen among those proposed by the teacher; 2. final oral examination on one book chosen from bibliography that will be provided during the course. The final evaluation consists of all the assessments obtained in the two parts. The exam aims to verify: - the knowledge and the understanding of the main events, processes and problematic nodes of the Contemporary history and its periodization - the knowledge of the relative historiography and relevant categories.
