Free tutoring service for learning support

The training for S4S tutors for the second school term has been completed. The maximum number of available tutoring positions for the 2022-2023 school year has been reached.

If students wish to participate in this project, they can write from September 2023 for the school year 2023-2024.

Many Study Programs in the School of Humanities and Education have joined the Students4students active citizenship project, promoted by the “Le Mille e una Rete” Association in agreement with the University of Florence.

The project, which students can join individually, consists of a free Tutoring Service to support Primary and Secondary School students, with the consequent possibility of recognition in terms of credits within one’s study path at the end of the experience.

The Study Programs that have joined and will be able to recognize the activity in CFUs are as follows:

At the end of the student’s experience, the association will provide the School of Humanities with a certificate proving the activity performed for recognition in CFUs by the study program.

Student Fellowship of the Google News Initiative (GNI Student Fellowship which offers paid internship opportunities in leading newsrooms across Europe.

Program information:

  • The GNI Student Fellowship offers paid internships for European students and graduates who wish to gain work experience in a newsroom.
  • For students of all backgrounds interested in journalism, technology, multimedia or product design. 
  • In Italy, two newsrooms will host the Fellows: La Repubblica and il Sole24ORE.

“Personal and Community Storytelling - In the Time of Covid” Project;

 VirtHuLab - Virtual Human Dynamics Laboratory

The study is part of a project started last year and conducted by a group of community psychology researchers from many Italian universities (Turin, Milan, Aosta, Genoa, Florence, Naples, Palermo).

The research aims to collect voices, thoughts, emotions and stories during the first lockdown last spring and in the phase of the first reopening.

A similar survey is being offered again this year to see, one year on, how students are experiencing the pandemic.

IV Thesis Award on Private Cultural Heritage Assets

The national competition aims to promote and enhance research carried out by young scholars in the field of Private Cultural Heritage.

The Call for Proposals is open to graduate students with a Master’s Thesis on one or more private cultural heritage properties, including decorations, fixtures, parks and gardens.

Call for proposals for a prize dedicated to the best bachelor’s and master’s thesis with journalism as its theme.

I Care - Studying Together

The School of Humanities and Education has joined the project of Cesvot Fondazione CR Firenze and Meeting Point - Firenze Studenti aimed at offsetting the learning difficulties that have emerged in times of pandemic. University students from all degree programs are eligible to join the project.

The project has two main objectives:

  • To offer a concrete response to help youth attending middle school who need support to do their schoolwork.
  • To carry out volunteer experiences among students of the University of Florence willing to put in a few hours of their day to help lower secondary school students.

Meetings will be held at “Masaccio” Lower Secondary School,  Viale Giuseppe Mazzini 82, on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 3 to 5 p.m. from January to May.

Participation in the project guarantees the recognition of Credits.

It is possible to join the call for applications until 31/12/2022. The group will start its activity in the second semester.
